Anti-Theft Website

If you live in the UK and have been a victim of theft, list your stolen items at It's Been NICKED. All items listed must have been reported stolen to the Police as, for your safety, the only contact details allowed are a Police incident number and Police contact phone number.

Scam Victims

If you have been a victim of a scam, send me your story and I will add it to the Scam Victims page. I won't include any personally identifiable information.

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE USING THIS BLOG.

ALL of the lotteries, draws, compensation schemes, inheritances, payment agent jobs, mystery shopper jobs and business proposals involving large sums of money that you receive by email ARE SCAMS. NO ORGANISATION ANYWHERE EVER holds random email draws. They are ALL SCAMS. You CANNOT WIN a lottery or prize draw that you HAVE NOT ENTERED.
Please don't post comments asking me if the scams you have received are real. I can't answer them all and you KNOW they are scams!

PayPal Notification of Limited Account Access

Another fake Paypal notice.  How do I know it’s a fake?

1)  Look at the email address it claims to have come from.  “service@alert.paypa.co.uk”.  Read that carefully – it doesn’t say paypal.

2) If you click on the link in the body of the text it takes you to “http://mail.ime.co.th/paypal……..”  NOT the address of the Paypal website.

NEVER click on a link in a Paypal email.  ALWAYS enter the adress of the Paypal website directly into your browser.  If there is a problem with your account you will see the notification then.

If you think you have accidentally given your Paypal information to a scammer – contact Paypal immediately.

I get these paypal scams all the time. You can forward them to spoof@paypal.com. They will shut them down in a hurry and they’re always grateful when someone forwards one of these scams to them. (I was going to work for Paypal’s fraud dept. but then there was a hiring freeze, thanks to our lovely economy.)

  • The best way to safeguard against these types of fraud, if the email seems legitimate, is to just type the URL in manually and not click on any link. If it is legitimate you will have a note in your Paypal inbox or something. If there is nothing there then it is a fake for sure.
