Anti-Theft Website

If you live in the UK and have been a victim of theft, list your stolen items at It's Been NICKED. All items listed must have been reported stolen to the Police as, for your safety, the only contact details allowed are a Police incident number and Police contact phone number.

Scam Victims

If you have been a victim of a scam, send me your story and I will add it to the Scam Victims page. I won't include any personally identifiable information.

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE USING THIS BLOG.

ALL of the lotteries, draws, compensation schemes, inheritances, payment agent jobs, mystery shopper jobs and business proposals involving large sums of money that you receive by email ARE SCAMS. NO ORGANISATION ANYWHERE EVER holds random email draws. They are ALL SCAMS. You CANNOT WIN a lottery or prize draw that you HAVE NOT ENTERED.
Please don't post comments asking me if the scams you have received are real. I can't answer them all and you KNOW they are scams!

CONGRATULATIONS

A reader forwarded me this set of scam emails.  I guess she replied to the first, and the second two emails are replies from the scammers.  I find it strange how the scammers get angry with their (potential) victims if they start to ask questions.  Can you imagine a real business person doing that?

Here is the original scam email:

I think there must be a few more emails, and my reader started getting suspicious.  When she started to ask questions, the scammer resorted to telling her off like a naughty child.

Dear winner,

What did you mean by saying that the Tom Anderson who contacted you is
not from my space.
Let me tell you that if Mr tom Anderson should hear this he will be
upset with you, he employed me and i had being working with him for
the past two months on this Myspace lottery program.

And i will like to know your reason for saying so.

i had already contacted Mrs Jessica Williams that you will be making
your delivery payment before Friday and she had already packaged your
check and as i am writing now she emailed me that she’s had included
your check and again she told me that she will need you to come up
with two people that will coming along with you for a Tv reality show
that is designed to bring our winners together, this will be coming up
in the next two weeks so she will be arrangement on that to,
she needs the names so that she can make reservations and we will be
responsible for hotels and the flight,
we will send you more information on this before the weeks runs out so
that you can give us all the needed information to make reservations
for flight and the hotel reservation for you and the two other
persons that you are inviting along with you.

Please get back to me asap.

I Also received the same message on MySpace just today! And I live in Finland. I haven’t replyed yet, and started googling to find out, if there REALLY IS this kind on lottery. Was thinking to send some e-mail to Tom Anderson in MySpace, to ask if it’s true. But then again if someone, a hacker, is sending this kind of e-mails to people, then would the same person reply to me?
How to find out if it’s true? U who send the fist warning here, can you tell me, when did your friend receive the e-mail?

And now that I started to check the numbers, the Ref, Batch, ticket (etc.)numbers are all the same that in your mails also. Oh how I’m glad that I found your pages!!!

They can really be clever with their scams…
Luckily most of the people get suspicious the getting 300 000,00 dollars FOR FREE.

    Dammit.

I receive the same email too and I am living in Asia. Don’t these people have better things to do? And yes, like what Saga mentioned, all the numbers are the same for me as well !!!

  • This happened to me today also. Like the rest. I live in Australia, and sorry we are not that stupid. You get nothing for nothing, that’s my motto. Same numbers, same everything the twits.

  • I got one today. Not that silly to even think it was for real. I live in Australia. I am not that stupid you twits. Go out and get a real job and leave everyone alone.

My motto is: you get nothing for nothing.

Stop wasting yours and everyone elses time.

  • Shell Thornley

I got it last night, and I replied back, before my husband and son were done checking them out! I won’t be replying back if I hear from them again! I feel like such a green tomatoe! :( I so wish there was a way of stopping scammers. Its a cruel thing to do to folks when we are all going through hard times now.

  • Sam

I received it too and I replied 2 or 3 times but they never ask me for bank data or something else (credit card number or so on) so what they can do with my only home address?
I don’t understand what they gain doing that kind of thing… someone can tell me?
