Another hotel scam – forwarded by my B&B running friends. The only interest that “Rev Fred Walker” has in “your facility” is trying to extract money from you. If you reply he will come up with some reason why he needs to send you a check and can’t pay you by credit card. If you accept the cheque he will ask you to send money to a third party (accomplice) – after which you will find the original check was a fake and you are out of pocket with no way of reclaiming the money. Ignore him.

I received a similar e-mail today from Richard Bowman (rick.bowman10@msn.com) asking me to reply to revrichardb@yahoo.com The fact that it came from one e-mail address with the response to another made me cautious. So I googled the entire contents of the e-mail and was led to “keep safe on the net” Thanks for confirming my suspicions!
I’ve bookmarked the site for future reference.

I got this today, and I don’t even run a B&B! I own a small marketing firm! Needless to say I immediately was suspect and searched the contents of the email online.

I wish to make room reservation on behalf of 4 reverend from Greece, they will be visiting for a five (5) day religious program in the month of June 2011.
I would like to reserve 2 double rooms or any other room type to accommodate them for the following dates:
June 11th – 16th inclusive (5 night’s total).
I would also like to confirm the following service are included in the cost of the stay:
1) Breakfast
We look forward to arriving at your location on June 11th.
Please could you confirm this reservation in replying with your quotes then we can make a deposit to secure the rooms.

Anybody any idea why people call ( usually ladies) who make an initial enquiry for , say a twin en suite room with very scant detail of dates….and then go on to question how many rooms your establishment has , how many en suites , whether evening meals are served etc. they have ( generally ) no knowledge of where your establishment is situated….is it them trying to get information for advertising…making up of new web sites ?……I have had several od these types of calls over the years and can see them coming a mile off ….any ideas please. mk
