Notice of Underreported Income
A friend forwarded me this scam. If the UK Inland Revenue want to tell you about an overpayment, underpayment or any other issue with your tax they will write to you. You will receive a proper letter or form, on headed paper, including your full name and tax reference. They won’t email you.
If you click on the link in this email you will be taken to http://online.hmrc.gov.uk.nyyyyasz.net NOT the address of the real site (notice the nyyyyasz.net). I can’t tell you what was on that page, as it had been taken down by the time I looked.
NEVER click on a link in ANY email that claims to come from the Inland Revenue. If you think there might be a problem with your tax return, phone your local office. DON’T phone a number sent in an email, look them up in the phone book or on BT.com.
