- There are two versions of Malwarebytes. A free one and a paid for one.
- In my experience this is usually one of the most effective malware removal programs.
- DON’T think that because your anti-virus software is up-to-date and running correctly that you can’t become infected by malware. You can and you will.
- If you’ve never scanned your computer with Malwarebytes before the chances are very high that there is something unwanted on it.
The free version is fine for most domestic use. However, if you have teenage children or enjoy visiting sites of an adult nature I recommend the paid for version. The free version isn’t pro-active. You have to remember to open it up, click on update and tell it to scan your computer (I do this every couple of weeks).
The paid for version IS pro-active. It will keep itself up-to-date and will keep protecting your computer. It doesn’t conflict with your anti-virus software.
As a measure of how effective it is, I’ll tell you about a regular client of mine. She shares a house with her son and teenage grand-daughter. I used to go to their house 2 or 3 times a year to remove malware from both her son’s computer and her grand-daughter’s computer. In the end we installed the paid for version of Malwarebytes on both computers. It was two years before I heard from her again. Really! It was a lot cheaper than paying for me to drive over and spend a couple of hours working on their computers three times a year.
